ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE FOR DECISION SUPPORT

In a rapidly changing environment where organizations face ever-increasing challenges due to macroeconomic uncertainties, resourcing and other challenges, executives and management are under pressure to respond quickly and make unique strategic, tactical and operational decisions. This course provides a holistic perspective on new decision support methods and tools to create value and sustain success.

Learning goals

Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to describe the design and operation of Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) and other sophisticated decision support systems. They will be able to apply their acquired knowledge of ANN theory to decision-making and to make use of powerful ANN systems and management tools to safely solve complex, real-world business problems.

  1. Basic model and concepts of AI
  2. Challenges for decision-makers in a rapidly changing world
  • Descriptive Machine Learning
    1. Collecting and pre-processing data
    2. Analysing and visualizing data via dashboards
  • Predictive Machine Learning Methods & Tools
    1. Data mining methods and algorithms
    2. Use of Neural Networks, Bayesian Networks, Decision Trees, Hidden Markov Models and other examples, for projecting future events and outcomes
  • Prescriptive Decision Support Systems
    1. Methods and tools for optimization, simulation and decision making
    2. Concept of risk and return
  • Real-World Examples of AI for Decision Making
    1. Applications for solving problems in finance, HR, marketing and production
    2. Key learnings from successes and failures
    The contents of this course will be delivered in the form of short lectures and group work.

    Target group

    The course is designed for executives, top managers and entrepreneurs with an interest in learning about the possibilities of Artificial Intelligence for successful decision-making.

    Prerequisites

    • English level B1 (according to the European Framework)
    • At least 2 years of professional experience
    • Laptop/PC + headset with microphone

    Prof. Dr. Ronald Glasberg is Professor for International Strategic Management and Head of Institute for International Strategic Management & Innovations at the Berlin University of Applied Sciences. He focuses on the development of new strategic management tools and mindsets using advanced engineering mathematics to cope with unforeseen and unexpected events. His aims to formulate unique action-oriented recommendations for enterprises depending on their particular strategic, innovation, financial and risk management starting points.
