ADVANCED MATHEMATICS AND AI FOR ENGINEERS AND MANAGERS

This course addresses a holistic view of advanced mathematical methods and tools so that reliable prediction of future trends can be made from ever-increasing amounts of data.

Learning goals

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be able to describe powerful mathematical principles for solving complex economic and engineering problems, apply the acquired knowledge to real-world problems, and use intelligent computational tools in solving mathematical problems.

Introduction to Advanced Mathematics & AI
  • Fundamental models of higher mathematics and AI
  • Practical exercises
Vector & Matrix Analysis
  • Presentation and application of vectors and matrices calculations
  • Insides in engineering and managerial applications
Differentiation and Integration
  • Presentation and application of differentiation and integrations calculations
  • Insides in engineering and managerial applications
Transformation procedures
  • Presentation and application of transformation procedures
  • Laplace-, z- and Fourier-transformations
Presentation and application of AI-networds and Learning Systems
  • Presentation of AI-networks for feature extraction and classification systems
  • Practical insides of feature extraction and classification systems by using AI, Decision Trees, Hidden Markov Models and many more
Presentation and discussion of the capstone project



The topics are introduced through short presentations and literature, encompassing practical exercises that involve an exploration of the learned concepts and the application of methods.

Target group

The course is designed for management and engineering employees who want to acquire knowledge in the field of advanced mathematics and AI or expand it.

This course is recognized as Bildungszeit according to paragraph § 10 (5) of the Berliner Bildungszeitgesetz (BiZeitG).

Prerequisites

  • At least 2 years of professional experience
  • Laptop/PC + headset with microphone

Dates

February 19 – 21, 2024 (virtual classroom sessions).

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ronald Glasberg
Prof. Dr. Ronald Glasberg is Professor for International Strategic Management and Head of Institute for International Strategic Management & Innovations at the Berlin University of Applied Sciences. He focuses on the development of new strategic management tools and mindsets using advanced engineering mathematics to cope with unforeseen and unexpected events. His aims to formulate unique action-oriented recommendations for enterprises depending on their particular strategic, innovation, financial and risk management starting points.
